For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and became truly human.”
The second part of the creed speaks of Jesus Christ. There are two major important facets of our understanding of Jesus Christ who he is (the person of Christ) and what he has done (the work of Christ).
For now, let’s focus on the person of Christ. Who is Jesus, what is his nature? Is he God, or just another dude? This is what the ancient church had to figure out – in fact they argued about it so much that they had to form a creed about it…
1- Take a look at what the creed says about who Jesus is. What does it tell us? Can you restate it in your own words?
2- What the heck is the difference between “begotten” and “made”?
3- We just got over talking about how God the Father is the creator…how is it then that it is through the Son that all things are made?
4- What does it mean for Jesus to be truly human?
5- Why is it significant that Jesus be both fully human and fully God?

I had something pretty good typed up and I hit something and poof it is gone. I'll try again.
1. Jesus is truly God and human.
2. Begotten seems spiritual while made seems ordinary.
3. God the Father created the Son.
4. Since Jesus is truly human, he understands the human condition fully.
5. Jesus is our link to God or our pathway to our creator.
This isn't as good as I had before. I don't know what happened. Anyway, these are a few of my thoughts. Wish more people would engage in your blog experiment. See you Sunday. Tricia

I think you will find another look at comments 1 and 3 together after we talk about God the Creator this coming Sunday.
the Son was not created - because anything that has been created cannot be God. Yet there IS a relationship of "coming forth from" between the Father and the Son - but this relationship is eternal (i.e no beginning and no end to it) and is thus not "created" but "begotten".
Confusing? OH YEAH. We're gonna talk about this when we get to the doctrine of the Trinity.
